R6.Final.E30.Results.
E30 Championship.
This years end of season scrutineering checks on the “Top 3″ cars was more intrusive than normal and we were pleased to see all three vehicles compliant with all the checks that were done.
With this requirement out of the way you will find enclosed above the final round 6, and final overall season results for the Castrol BMW E30 Race Driver Series Championship.
Congratulations to;
Ashley Blewett
Matt Griffin
Marty Irvine.
From current indications, we should see all three back for another crack at the title next season.
Open Series Championship.
Provisional round 6 results for the Castrol BMW Open Race Driver Series are currently under protest. As this impacts on the overall season results also, final results are currently “on hold”.
We’ll get these distributed once everything is resolved.
Race 6 trophies.
Trophies for round 6 place getters, and also all outstanding trophies not yet collected, plus final season 50 race medals will be presented at the completion of our AGM on the afternoon of Saturday the 19th May.
This will be followed by a short “happy hour” prior to breaking up to get ready for the nights prize giving function.
If you haven’t already booked your tickets for this event please refer to earlier correspondence and take the opportunity to do this now.
BMW Race Driver Series Track Day.
Sunday May 20th Pukekohe Park Raceway.
Again, if you haven’t already entered please take the opportunity to do this now. At $50 per car this will be the best “bang for buck” opportunity for you to show family / friends / crew / sponsors (potential sponsors) what OUR series is all about.

Bulletin one
This weekend see’s the running of the “Dunlop- Grand Finals”, the final round of the 2011 / 12 Premier Race Championship Series.
Which of course is also the fourth round of the “Castrol BMW Race Driver Series” championship.
Enclosed above you’ll find “Bulletin One” outlining the time frames / program for this event.
Important points are:
1. There will be a short BMW Series Drivers Briefing / Welcome Saturday morning at 8.00am sharp.
This is compulsory, so please ensure you are at our BMW Marquee on time to allow for documentation (8.00 – 10.00am) and group 1
E30 qualifying at 9.05am (8.55am to dummy grid).
2. Please also ensure that your log book is UP TO DATE and CORRECT.
A number of issues were created at the Tier 1 Pukekohe round through log books not being updated with current owner details / vehicle
image etc. Please look to ensure that yours is current and correct.
3. We have one tight “turn around” on Sunday with our Group 1 E30 Race 3 (bottom half sorted by points) followed directly by Race 3 for
Open Class. As this is by points (a current unknown) it can’t be sorted through adjusting qualifying grids, so for all you dual entered
teams please make sure the E30 series driver goes fast and makes the top half group !!
RACE GRIDS.
These are also enclosed above.
For the first time this season we’ll have cars carrying #1 (previous season champions) competing in both the E30 and Open Series.
Although both Brent and Barry may have just left their run for any title defence a little too late!
Also returning to the series for the first time this season we have Colin Briscoe (Open group C) and Chris Wright (Open group A) plus after a brief (expensive) showing at round 1 Andre Cowan.
Welcome back guys.
POINTS TABLES.
Updated points tables will follow shortly.
SATURDAY BBQ / PRIZE GIVING.
Prize giving for previous rounds, plus some further ”50 Race” medals will be presented at our Saturday evening BBQ, which will be held near our BMW Race Series Marquee, starting from 5.00pm.
Helpers for the BBQ always appreciated.

2011-12 Castrol BMW Race Driver Entry Form
BMW Entries Received – Taupo(2)
Points.table.Open.season.Final.R4
Taupo Supp Regs BMW
Hopefully you’ve all come through the recent BMW festival rounds in one piece and are just itching to get back into another points scoring Castrol BMW Race Driver Series competition round.
TAUPO ROUND 5.
Next up for us is round 5, part of Motorsport NZ’s Taupo Tier 1 meeting being held on the 9th – 11th March 2012.
Enclosed above (for those not already entered) is another copy of the meeting entry form and supplementary regulations.
NOTE:
A late fee of $100 applies to all entries received after this Friday the 10th February.
Entries will be open until Wednesday the 29th of February, however the cut off for inclusion in the meeting program will be Friday the
24th of February.
Currently we have 41 E30 and 32 Open Series competitors entered.
If you don’t see your name on the entry list enclosed, and are planning on running at this meeting, then please get your entry form filled out and sent in as soon as possible.
OPEN SERIES POINTS TO DATE.
With four rounds completed and only next months Taupo round before our season finale in April, now is a good time to look at how the Open Series Group A / B and C battles are playing out once the “drop two races” is bought into the equation.
You’ll find a break down of this enclosed above.
While Todd Pelham has pulled a reasonable 332 point gap in the race for Group B honours the race is still on for second place with newcomer Wayne Cowley holding a 9 point advantage over Bob Sievwright in third.
And it’s certainly neck and next in both the A and C groups with Mike Delmont holding a slender 3 point lead over Aaron Harris in A, with Warwick Mortimer a further 99 points back in third, while newcomer Mark Holland retains a slim 2 point advantage over Martyn Seddon in the group C battle, with Gordon Legge a further 138 points back in third.
Should be interesting to see how this all looks after the challenge of reliability vs consistency plays out at Taupo.
We’ll come back with the Final E30 points standings once these have been finalised at our next committee meeting.
BRDS POLO SHIRTS.
As you will recall the committee has arranged for one good quality Polo shirt and one Cap to be produced free of charge for each driver registered for the 2011/12 season. These include the BMW Roundel, BMW Race Driver Series script, and Castrol branding.
The finished sample of this shirt was shown at our 11th December Hampton Downs one day TACCOC meeting for all to see.
These would have been distributed to most of you who were competing in the January festival meetings.
For those that haven’t already received these, we’ll have these available again for pick up at the March Taupo round.
Additional shirts and caps (over and above the ones you are entitled to for free) can still be purchased for family, friends, crew etc.
The cost for these is $45 for the polo shirts and $15 for the caps.
To order simply send through an e-mail to www.bmwraceseries@hotmail.com stating sizes and quantities required, along with payment by Direct Credit to our account 03 0285 0215733 00 with a reference to your car number within 5 days of e-mail.
“GOOD BUGGER TROPHY”.
Marty and Michele Irvine have kindly donated a “good bugger” trophy for annual presentation.
The idea behind this is to highlight some of the positives that make the series such a success. Maybe happenings behind the scenes? the unsung heroes? gentlemen on the racetrack? in essence “those good buggers” that invade the series.
While the final voting process (maybe some sort of next morning headache meter?) for this is still being fleshed out, no doubt most of you will have examples / instances that come to mind, so keep these in mind and we’ll get back to you soon with more info on this one.

HD.Entrants.Open
HAMPTON DOWNS 1 DAY MEETING.
This Sunday 11th December.
IMPORTANT: The BMW Race Driver Series “Drivers briefing” will be held promptly at 8.00am. This will be followed by the official track drivers briefing at 8.30am.
Welcome to both Samuel Read (Team HellBM) E30 and David Stephens Open Class E46 M3, both first round rookies for the series, and welcome back to Chris Wright, David Brace and Mike Eady, all making a return to the series for the first time this season.
Early scrutineering and documentation is available Saturday afternoon (between 2pm and 5pm) at the Hampton Downs based Race FX premises. With the tight timetable on Sunday and 150+ entrants expected, it would be appreciated if as many drivers as possible could take advantage of this opportunity and reduce the pressure for meeting officials on the Sunday morning.
ALSO: A number of you incurred the wrath of the Motorsport NZ officials at Pukekohe for minor things, like not having the correct owner details or a photo of your car in the log book. Please ensure that you bring these details up to date before it starts to cost you time and money for not complying. Graeme Mortensen is one of the Motorsport NZ stewards for this weekend and he’s a stickler for the rules.
On a positive note, there is an “open gate” for this meeting, meaning entry is free, a perfect time to drag out family and friends to see what your hobby is all about.
Entries as of last Friday are enclosed above.
And yes, as per normal there have been late entries received since this date.
If you were not a late entrant and your name isn’t listed above, please get in touch and we’ll confirm if it has been received.
Final entries and E30 race grids will be posted in the Race Series marquee Sunday morning.
Currently we have 58 E30′s entered and the track maximum of 46 Open Class entries, well done guys, another fantastic turn out.
BRDS POLO SHIRTS.
The committee has arranged for one good quality Polo shirt and one Cap to be produced free of charge for each driver registered for the 2011/12 season. These will include the BMW Roundel, BMW Race Driver Series script, and Castrol branding. A finished sample of this shirt will be available at the 11th December Hampton Downs meeting for you to see, along with a full range of unbranded sizes for you to try on to confirm the size you want. Additional shirts and caps (over and above the ones you are entitled to for free) can also be purchased for family, friends, crew etc. Costs will be $45 for the polo shirts and $15 for the caps.
To take advantage of this we need you to confirm your exact requirements on the 11th on a form that will be available at the Race Series marquee. Payment for any extra shirts/caps would be great if it can be made on the day, alternatively, an e-mail to us stating sizes and qtys required along with a Direct Credit to our account within 5 days with a reference to your car number will work, but to get them all produced ready for the January festival meetings we must have your payment by Friday the 16th – no payment – no extra gear. Our Account number is : 03 0285 0215733 00.
TV COVERAGE.
A compilation of rounds 1 and 2 screens tonight on Sky Sport 2 at 7.00pm, followed by a repeat screening on Friday’s Sky Sport 3 at 12.00pm (midday) and on TV3′s 3 Sport Sunday on 18th December.
See you all Sunday.

BRDS R4 Entries at Nov24
Again the countdown is on.
In less than two weeks time it’s all on for round 4 of the season.
TACCOC Hampton Downs 1 day meeting.
This is being held on Sunday 11th December.
Entries as of last Friday are enclosed above.
IMPORTANT: For those not already entered, entry can still be done online @ www.motorsportentry.com
Please get any outstanding entries in ASAP so that scrutineering sheets / E30 groups etc can be formulated and distributed prior to the weekend of the event. See you all there.
HD Festival.
One weekend entry.
We’ve had a number of you asking how to enter just one of the BMW Festival weekends in January.
Currently the online entry process at www.motorsportentry.com will only cover entry for both weekends.
To enter just one meeting you’ll need to do the following:
Tick the S/hist/f junior/classic trial box and this will halve the entry cost.
NOTE: The special pricing negotiated for BMW Race Driver Series members is for both meetings combined.
Entry for one meeting only will default back to the standard entry fee.
IMPORTANT: Entries for the festival are required by this Wednesday the 30th November.
Incident log.
The series committee is responsible for maintaining the well being of the BMW Race Driver Series for both existing and future members, and part of this responsibility is to maintain driver standards and behaviour at a high level.
The committee has now established, and circulated, a “Culture and behaviour” document which describes the most important values of the series. The second stage of this process is the recording of an incident log for the series.
When incidents come to the attention of the committee, whether by race members, officials, drivers delegates, or other witnesses, we will consider the information available and make a decision accordingly.
For serious incidents, part of this process is the implementation of points deductions where these are deemed appropriate by the committee. These incidents will then be added to the incident log.
In the case of less serious incidents, eg minor contact between two cars, both will be entered onto the log without allocation of blame. There are no points deductions or other penalties associated with this. It is simply a method for recording what has happened.
The total number of incidents associated with each driver will also appear in a column in the final results after each meeting, without description. The resulting statistics will allow the committee to identify frequent incidents so that we can address them. It will also allows us to detect “near misses” which could have been more serious and consider changes to rules, or other actions that will improve safety in the future.
BMW Parts pricing.
After a lot of discussions between interested parties we are now pleased to announce that a BMW Race Driver Series member discount has been agreed between BMW NZ and their dealer network.
Due to the sensitive nature of this arrangement (impact on BMW trade customers etc) a specific percentage discount cannot be announced. Officially “BMW Dealers will provide a substantial discount to BMW Race series Members” is what we can confirm.
For those in Auckland, the local dealers supporting this initiative are Jerry Clayton BMW on the North Shore and Team McMillan BMW in Newmarket.
CASTROL
We are also close to being able to announce a similar arrangement for Castrol products.
More on this shortly.
DVD’s
For those of you that ordered last season DVD’s but won’t be at our one day meeting next weekend at Hampton Downs, please e-mail back a daytime delivery address and we’ll get these sent out to you. For the rest, we’ll distribute these during next weekends meeting.
TV coverage.
The television landscape in regards to motorsport coverage at the moment seems to be an ever changing environment!
At this point indications are that the compilation of both round 1 at Hampton Downs and round 2 from Pukekohe will be screening Wednesday December 7th on SKY’s Fujitsu Motorsport program, with coverage also scheduled for TV3′s Motorsport program on Sunday the 18th December.
Keep an eye on TV program scheduling times during December, and if anything further comes to light we’ll keep you informed.

DVD’s.
Yes, these are now in our hands. We’ll bring these to our next Hampton Downs round for distribution. If you don’t plan to be there and have one of these on order please e-mail back your name and a day time courier address and we’ll get these sent out to you.
By admin, on November 16th, 2011
Thanks to those who managed to make the trip to what has become our annual Manfeild round as part of the MG classic meeting.
58 E30 entries and 40 Open class entries was an outstanding result considering this meeting was a back to back round with Pukekohe’s Tier 1 opener the weekend before.
The Open Class again put on a good show in what can only be described as a weekend of inclement weather conditions, so much for our “only one wet meeting a year” scenario!
And while a few incidents again reared their heads in the earlier E30 races the final top half duel was the best of the season so far (and possibly the series full stop) with regular slip stream overtaking manoeuvres amongst the front group and the final result requiring an examination of the finish line video to determine Marty Irvine as the winner.
We’ll get meeting results and updated season results out shortly, but while we’re doing this below is an important update from Jim Barclay regards the upcoming Hampton Downs BMW Festival meetings in January.—————————————————————————-

——————————————————————————————–
IMPORTANT POINTS
Entry costs.
As was confirmed in newsletter #5, the BMW Race Driver Series will be an integral part of the BMW Festival being held at Hampton Downs over the weekends of 20-22nd Januay 2012 and 27-29th January 2012. These are three day meetings with qualifying on the Friday and two races each on Saturday and Sunday. We will be running two grids, one for the E30 Series cars and one for Open Series cars. NOTE: There is a large gap in our Race Series calendar to give you all time to plan (and save) for these important non-championship rounds. This is very important, as based on two full 40 + car grids we have been able to negotiate independent sponsorship that will allow us to offer our members an entry fee that will make these meetings very attractive.
Entry per weekend has been set at $230 incl GST.
This special entry fee has been incorporated into the online entry process. While the online entry form shows only the full meeting costs, when entering, once either the BMW E30 Series or BMW Open Series race groups is chosen our special entry fee is applied.
Entry close date.
Entries close on 30 November 2011, – so please enter right away.
We are constantly plagued by members who continually late enter events. While it is always good to have the maximum number of entries at each event possible, these late entries create last minute organisational restructuring that we can do without.
To reiterate Jims comments ” There is a lot of work to do to get the Programme completed before Xmas and to the Printers early in the New Year – so your early entry will help me a lot. Please do your entry right away, especially if you want your name to be in the programme!”
As this meeting is outside our organisation please ensure you represent both the BMW Race Driver Series and the BMW Car Cub of NZ in a positive light by getting your entries in on time.
Round 4 Hampton Downs.
Entries for our 4th round, which is the one day TACCOC meeting on 11th December are also now open.
Till next time.
Regards

Short of a couple of new comers, it’s starting to look like the usual suspects are again working their way towards the pointy end of each field. We’ll get a more in depth update out to you covering this Pukekohe round, plus a report on Round 3 at Manfeild once this has been run.
Due to travelling time frames, our penchant for late entries etc, final E30 qualifying groups and final entrant lists will not be sent out via
e-mail for this weekends event. You’ll find them posted on the BMW Race Driver Series notice board inside the Race Series marquee first thing Saturday morning.
NOTE: The BMW Race Driver Series drivers briefing will be scheduled for the 30 minutes prior to Manfeilds own drivers briefing.
See you all this weekend at Manfeild.

I would be grateful if you put it in an email please and it starts Tomorrow the competition and thought we could run it until 11 December and we can take photos for the Best Moustache etc. Prizes will be arranged by Mike Ashton. Many thanks , and hope everyone gets into the spirit of it for MOVEMBER .
Regards Mike.
3. Final numbers for Pukekohe.
We will be fielding 59 E30 Series entries this weekend, and have reached the track maximum of 46 for Open Series cars.
A fantastic result. And while it does look like we may have lost a couple of the entered Open Series competitors due to pre-meeting mechanical issues, a field of even 44 cars must surely be a record of sorts for Pukekoke.
Well done, and we look forward to an enjoyable weekend.
